The Overgate has had a bit of a resurgence as of late following the acquisation of the centre by Frasers Group who have dramatically redeveloped the Overgate, which it purchased in March 2023.

This multi-million-pound redevelopment will give Dundee a fresh and exciting retail offering, welcoming millions of visitors and firmly establishing Dundee as one of the go-to shopping spots on Scotland's east coast.

At the very heart of the redevelopment is the introduction of a massive 100,000 square feet Frasers concept department store opening in May.

This new addition, one of the largest shop fit-outs Dundee has ever seen, will bring a completely modernised shopping experience to the city.

Frasers Group describes the store as a "remarkable modern department store" which will not only transform the Overgate but also regenerate Dundee and boost the region's retail appeal.

This will be joined by Flannels, the luxury fashion brand that will open a unit in May, further reinforcing the luxury proposition. Its inclusion as part of the redevelopment also introduces further mix to the retail line-up within the centre.

New stores are on their way

The redevelopment doesn't stop there. Spanish fashion giant Mango has confirmed it will open a 4,081 sq ft store on the ground floor in April under a 10-year lease.

Similarly, British heritage footwear brand Clarks will debut a new store in April.

Performance sportswear brand Castore has already opened its doors on the upper levels under a five-year lease.

In the last few months, the Overgate has welcomed Rituals, Pandora, Lovisa, Bee Inspired, and The Leith Collective.

Vote of confidence in the centre

Over 20 lease renewals have also been signed with key tenants such as Next, Office, and TUI giving the centre a vote of confidence for the future.

And although already in 2024, millions of customers have been counted, Frasers Group expects the figure to reach significantly higher in 2025.
