The official trailer of the much-anticipated second season of Doctor Who, starring Dundee Rep alumni Ncuti Gatwa, has just been released.

Fans can anticipate the new series to be released on BBC iPlayer in the UK and Disney+ worldwide from April 12.

Gatwa, who is the first regular Black actor to portray the Doctor in the program's long-running history, returns for his second full season playing the role alongside Star Wars: Andor star Varada Sethu as Belinda Chandra.

The trailer showcases action, exciting adventures, surprising shocks, and a raft of brilliant guest stars are ahead, including Dundee Rep alumni Alan Cumming.

Cumming, whose varied film, television, and stage career includes a range of roles, provides the voice of Mr Ring-a-Ding, a wacky cartoon character who finds his way out into the real world and wreaks havoc in the process.

This will be Cumming's second appearance as a Doctor Who guest star, having previously played King James I in Series 11's "The Witchfinders" opposite Jodie Whittaker's Thirteenth Doctor.

The teaser unlocks the doors of new worlds, old foes, and the infinite energy that Gatwa introduces to the role.

With showrunner Russell T Davies in the driver's seat, anticipation is growing for another exciting season of time-traveling spectacle.

Both Gatwa and Cumming both featuring in major roles, the show has a strong Dundee pedigree that locals who are proud of the city's own home-grown talent can get behind.
