Dundee's historic HMS Unicorn is set to appear in The Repair Shop on the Road - which will be shown on BBC Scotland next week.

The show, hosted by Dom Chinea and Will Kirk, goes on a UK-wide road trip to take treasured historical items, that are too big or too fragile to take to the iconic barn, back into use.

The episode will give a rare behind-the-scenes look at the early stages of the preservation of HMS Unicorn and how the team in The Repair Shop is contributing toward securing the ship's future.

Viewers can see the episode on Monday, 17 February at 8pm on BBC Scotland, then again on BBC One on Wednesday, 19 February at 4:30 pm and BBC Two on Thursday, 20 February at 7:15 am. The episode will also be made available on BBC iPlayer shortly after broadcast.

As part of their ongoing fundraising, every pound sterling donated to the HMS Unicorn before 1 April will be matched and increased tenfold. This would majorly increase money toward restoration of the ship.

HMS Unicorn, launched in 1824, is believed to be among the world's oldest surviving wooden warships.

This feature broadcast on television brings national awareness toward the preservation needs of this unique piece of nautical heritage into the future generations.
