Storm Eowyn: Dundee placed on amber alert as storm prepares to make landfall on Friday

Dundee is bracing for extreme weather as Storm Éowyn is set to hit on Friday, bringing gusts potentially up to 80-90mph.


The Met Office has issued a series of weather warnings, including an amber warning for wind between 6am and 9pm.


Weather Warnings:

  • 🟡 Yellow Warning (Friday): Midnight–11:59pm

  • 🟠 Amber Warning (Friday): 6:00am–9:00pm

  • 🟡 Yellow Warning (Saturday): Midnight–3:00pm


Residents are advised to plan their journeys carefully and stay safe during the storm, as significant disruption is expected.


What to Expect:

  • Power cuts likely, with potential disruption to mobile networks.


  • Delays and cancellations across road, rail, air, and ferry services.


  • Damage to buildings and homes, including the risk of roofs being blown off.


  • Injuries and danger to life from flying debris, as well as large waves along coastal areas.
