A new thread on Reddit saw people discuss interesting ideas on what they would do in Dundee if they were “mega billionaires” and the answers were quite interesting to say the least.
Here are some of the ideas that were suggested by Reddit users on the thread as part of the r/Dundee discussion board, created by No_SiliconHeaven.
Bring back the Dundee Trams
One of the most popular ideas was the reinstatement of the Dundee trams which has generated discussion in recent years following a campaign for them to return.
Demolish the Wellgate
The demolition of the Wellgate was also cited by a fair few users, with one stating that they’d transform it back into a thoroughfare. This week also saw the news, exclusively released by Laura Devlin of The Courier, that Dundee and Angus College intend to transform the site of the Wellgate into a new college campus.
Extend Dundee Airport
The topic of Dundee Airport was also featured in the thread where one user said that they’d extend Dundee’s runway to allow bigger planes to land in the city.
Turn the Olympia into a concert venue
Another interesting idea that was suggested was turning the Olympia into a concert venue. The Olympia has been in the news over the past few years due to safety concerns, but recently reopened a few months ago.
A permanent Dundee sign
One user had the desire to install a permanent Dundee sign in a similar fashion to the popular Beanotown sign that was installed on the slopes of the Dundee Law during the Summer (Bash) Streets Festival which was hosted in the city back in 2022.
An investment fund into gaming
This idea was an interesting one. An investment fund into gaming that was suggested by one user who said that it could be compared to the investment funds based in Silicon Valley in the US who started Reddit and Airbnb.
