Scotland’s most powerful electric vehicle charging hub has just opened in Dundee.
The facility, located off the Myrekirk roundabout on the Kingsway, features 24 ultra-rapid charging bays, with eight capable of providing up to 60 miles of driving range in just three minutes.
Scottish ministers, who previously invested millions in creating a public charging network, now emphasize the need for significant private investment to sustain its growth.
According to charger mapping service Zapmap, the number of public chargers increased by 43% in the year leading up to June 2024, bringing the total to 5,663. Of the 1,709 new chargers installed, 77% were privately funded.
Dundee was named the electric vehicle capital of Europe in 2018. This distinction has significantly contributed to the city's emergence as a global tech hub.
