The Dundee M&S Foodhall that was closed recently could be turned into an new store run by Mountain Warehouse in new plans submitted to Dundee City Council.

The retailer has made a planning application to fit out signage and do work on the former M&S store in Gallagher Retail Park.

The foodhall had remained vacant last year when M&S consolidated its two city centre stores into a single unit somewhere else in the retail park.

Mountain Warehouse had previously submitted a building warrant for £150,000 of work on unit 5—Next. The new application, though, is aimed at unit 7—the former M&S Foodhall.

It is unclear if the firm has changed its plans or if its previous application had been for the wrong unit.

The most recent applications asked for listed building consent for "internal and external alterations, including new external signage."

There are no plans yet announced as to how the move would impact the existing Mountain Warehouse store on the city’s Murraygate, and an opening date has not been made public.
