Hi everyone! I’d like to introduce myself, I’m Kacey and I am currently in my final year of university studying Journalism, Media & Communications at the University of Strathclyde.
As a proud Dundonian myself, I have been following Dundee Culture for many years and feel incredibly grateful and excited to now be a part of the team.
Dundee has inspired many of my news stories and features over the years, and I have always admired how Dundee Culture celebrates its creativity and history.
Having lived in Dundee all my life, I’m eager to help Andrew and the team showcase Dundee as a city filled with great culture and great people, showing the world just how amazing it truly is.
There is so much to be proud of in Dundee and so much to look forward to in the years ahead. I’m beyond excited to create content that celebrates Dundee’s successes and more importantly, share it with you all!
As part of this, I have been working on some exciting features and multi-media pieces that involve highlighting local talent, engaging with the community, and bringing some new voices and perspectives to Dundee Culture.
Working alongside Andrew I know I’ll gain invaluable experience into this industry, and I cannot wait to get started!
A wee bit about myself
Since my first year at Morgan Academy, I’ve known I wanted to pursue a career in journalism. I loved studying English and Media, and these subjects sparked my passion for storytelling.
Since then, my degree has only heightened this passion, and I’ve developed a strong interest in feature writing, particularly cultural and lifestyle features.
In the future, I hope to work full-time as a journalist, with feature writing as my main focus. That said, I’m excited to explore other areas during my time at Dundee Culture, embracing the social media side of the industry, and continuing to grow as a writer and storyteller.
There is so much I love about Dundee, so when Andrew asked me to choose my favourites, I was stumped. If I had to choose a place, though, it would be the Law Hill.
It’s close to home so I have spent a lot of time there and it makes a great walk, and I’m sure if my dog could talk, she’d agree!
However, my favourite thing about Dundee has to be its dialect. The uniqueness of Dundonian words and phrases is an immediate identifier of home and so deeply embedded in our culture.
For someone who gets a fright at almost anything, I don’t think a day passes where I don’t use the word fleg!
I really can’t express enough how excited I am to work with Dundee Culture. I’m grateful to Andrew for the opportunity and I hope you all enjoy reading and watching my content as much as I enjoy creating it.
One last thing… it’s a circle, not a roundabout!
