About this event
Join us at 12:00pm on 23rd March for a talk and feed to celebrate World Bear Day!
European brown bears are one of the largest and most impressive bear species. With powerful paws and claws that can grow up to 10cm long, they are built for life in the wild!
Once roaming freely across Europe, these bears were even found in Scotland until they were hunted to extinction around 1,000 years ago. Today, small populations remain in Spain and Italy, while Romania is home to thousands. Despite their decline, these incredible bears continue to thrive in parts of Europe, reminding us of the importance of conservation!
Meet our European Brown Bears, Brum, Brumma, and Maja. Learn about their history, the challenges brown bears face and how we care for them. Don’t miss this chance to see these incredible animals up close!

📅 Tuesday 18 March, 11am
📍 Camperdown Wildlife Centre
About the event
Join us at 11:00am on 18th March for a talk and feed to celebrate World Eagle Day!
Eagles are among the most majestic birds of prey, soaring high with incredible strength and precision. At Camperdown, we are home to two remarkable eagles—each from a different species.
Clova is a Golden Eagle, one of the most widely distributed eagles in the Northern Hemisphere. These powerful birds can be found in Scotland, where conservation efforts have led to a rise in breeding pairs.
Ernie is a White-tailed Eagle, a species that was reintroduced to Scotland in the 1970s and 1980s with birds relocated from Norway. In 1983, they bred in Scotland for the first time in modern history, and further reintroductions followed in 2007.
Sadly, both Clova and Ernie were injured early in life and would not survive in the wild. However, they now serve as incredible ambassadors for their species, helping to raise awareness about the conservation of these magnificent birds.
