The Dundee Electronic Music Society (DEMS) is gearing up for another groundbreaking event with the return of DEMSFEST on 18 May 2024.
Last year's festival, organised by this student-led DJ collective, garnered widespread acclaim, raising over £10,000 for The Brain Tumour Charity.
Recognised as one of the country's largest electronic music festival fundraisers, DEMSFEST also earned accolades from Resident Advisor and won the RAG award for “Best Event of the Year”.
Building on this success, DEMSFEST 2024 promises an even grander spectacle, set at Mains Castle in the beautiful surroundings of Caird Park.
With three stages hosting top UK acts and emerging Scottish talent, alongside art exhibitions and various fundraising activities, DEMSFEST aims to surpass last year's £10,000 charity milestone.
The event holds personal significance, being dedicated to the memory of Rhudi Kennedy, a close friend of one part of DEMS Matthew Gibson-Smith.
Rhudi was diagnosed with a brain tumour at a young age and has since become a Young Ambassador for The Brain Tumour Charity, actively contributing to raising awareness and supporting others affected by the disease.
It is also being held in the memory of Murray Stewart, who sadly lost his battle against a brain tumour. Murray was a friend of Matthew's brother.
Gina Almond, Director of Fundraising for The Brain Tumour Charity, commended the efforts of DEMS, highlighting their role in raising awareness and supporting those affected by the disease.
"We are extremely grateful for all the efforts made by our fantastic fundraisers and wish them all the very best. It’s through the efforts of people like Matthew and all of DEMS that we can change the future and bring hope to the thousands of people who are diagnosed with a brain tumour every year."
DEMSFEST 2024 invites music lovers and philanthropists alike to join in a celebration of music, art, and charity. Tickets are available on Resident Advisor or by searching 'DEMSFEST'."
