The Lochee Boys and Girls Boxing Club could soon undergo a major expansion as it looks to respond to a sharp rise in interest from young people across Dundee.

As per The Courier, planning application has been submitted to Dundee City Council seeking approval for internal upgrades and a new extension to the existing building on Loons Road.

The proposed development would help the club tackle current capacity issues and provide more opportunities for training and youth engagement.

A supporting statement submitted alongside the plans highlights a decade-long surge in youth participation in boxing, with the club now struggling to accommodate demand.

It describes the proposed extension as “essential” for ensuring all young people have access to sport in a safe and structured environment.

Designs created by LJRH Architects show how the revamped interior could look, with the new space offering a modern and flexible layout.

While boxing remains the core focus, the club is also aiming to broaden its reach. The extension would create a multi-use area for local schools, sports teams, and community organisations — allowing the facility to serve as a wider community hub.
