LIVEHOUSE Dundee has been recognised as one of the world’s most eagerly awaited new music venues, with a mid-year opening teased in a new feature by Live Music Intelligence.
The venue, which is set to become one of Scotland’s largest new live music spaces, is being developed in a former cinema and bingo hall in the heart of Dundee city centre.
With a proposed final capacity of 3,500, LIVEHOUSE aims to provide a key stop for touring acts between Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Glasgow.
May opening teased
The Dundee Dance Event, one of the city’s most popular music festivals, recently announced publicly, that it plans to host its closing party at LIVEHOUSE this May.
While an official opening date for the venue has yet to be confirmed, this announcement suggests that LIVEHOUSE could be gearing up to welcome its first audiences around the same time.
If so, it would mark a high-energy debut for the venue, immediately placing it at the heart of Dundee’s vibrant music scene.
‘Highly adaptable venue’
Angus Robb, company director and former owner of Dundee’s iconic Fat Sams venue, is leading the project.
The project is being delivered by venue owner and operator TDI (Dundee Arena) Limited, a company with experience in multi-million-pound developments.
LIVEHOUSE is expected to be a highly adaptable venue, catering to a variety of events beyond live music.
The space will be flexible, hosting everything from international bands to corporate events and awards dinners.
He also noted the resurgence of Scotland’s dance music scene, boosted by the success of local DJ Hannah Laing, as another key focus for the venue.
With its prime location and ambitious vision, LIVEHOUSE Dundee is set to become a major addition to Scotland’s live music scene, reaffirming the city’s reputation as a hub for entertainment and culture.
