Plans have been announced to tear down Dundee’s Keiller Centre and replace it with an exciting new development called “Keiller Quarter,” which is being touted as “Dundee’s answer to Covent Garden.”

As per Scottish Housing News, The proposal features a lively combination of commercial spaces, residential units—including student housing—and green areas, all aimed at revitalising the city’s core.

The goal is to turn the area into a vibrant hub of activity, merging modern living with leisure and shopping options.

The owners of the Keiller Centre will hold two public consultations regarding the plans, set for January and February next year.

These meetings will provide residents and stakeholders an opportunity to voice their opinions on this ambitious project.

Constructed in the 1970s, the Keiller Centre has long been viewed as an outdated part of Dundee’s city landscape but in recent years, has saw a boost in its fortunes, hosting the Dundee Design Festival in 2019 and then becoming home to the Federation Gallery among others and has become a hub for the arts community in the city.

The new plans aim to reimagine the site with a contemporary design and enhanced functionality to draw in businesses, residents, and visitors. More information about the timeline and design of the Keiller Quarter is expected to be released in the coming months.
