Dundee’s eagerly awaited new music and arts venue, LIVEHOUSE, is finally opening its doors in two weeks time – and it’s kicking off with a bang.
The venue’s debut weekend is stacked with two unmissable events set to launch LIVEHOUSE as a new cultural landmark in the city.
Friday 2 May – Launch Party: Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club DJ Set (7pm–12am)
LIVEHOUSE officially opens with the legendary Craig Charles bringing his iconic Funk & Soul Club DJ Set to the stage. A key figure in the UK funk and soul scene, Charles has been championing genre-bending grooves for decades through his BBC Radio 6 Music show, which has become a touchstone for music lovers since 2002.
This launch party promises to be a night of floor-filling funk, deep soul cuts and infectious energy as Scotland’s newest live venue bursts into life.

Sunday 4 May – Dundee Dance Event (DDE) Closing Party (2pm–2am)
Two days later, LIVEHOUSE will host the closing party for the 2025 Dundee Dance Event (DDE) – one of the city’s most iconic music festivals. First launched in 1998, the DDE gave a platform to Dundee’s rising DJ talent and quickly grew to become the UK’s biggest local DJ-led event.
This year’s closing party marks a major milestone, as the event lands at LIVEHOUSE for the first time, bringing 12 hours of non-stop beats, buzzing crowds, and boundary-pushing electronic music to the city’s newest stage.
