Eilish McColgan has taken second place in the Burj2Burj Half Marathon in Dubai with an impressive time of 68:58.
She was only a minute adrift from Ethiopian athlete Yalemzerf Yehualaw, who topped the race.
The 21.2km half marathon-a second edition-eventually takes the runners on a breathtaking route from the iconic world's-tallest building, Burj Khalifa, to the luxurious Burj Al Arab.
The Dundee-born runner who became the Commonwealth champion in the Women’s 10,000m in 2022, is now fast becoming more dominant in long distance races.
Taking to her socials, Eilish said:
“Happy to take 2nd today, in the 2nd ever Burj2Burj Half Marathon! Found it pretty tough out there. The hill at 9 mile killed off my legs and then had to deal with some cramp not longer after (which is strange for me - maybe the humidity?!) But managed to chase down 2nd place with around 6km to go after a long solo spell.”
The race comes as Eilish McColgan recently announced her London Marathon debut in April after dropping out due to injury in 2023.
