Dundee runner and Commonwealth champion, Eilish McColgan, has etched her name in history by becoming the first Scottish athlete to be selected for four consecutive Olympic Games.

McColgan, who is renowned for her endurance and determination, will proudly represent Team GB once again on the world stage in Paris.

Eilish first made her Olympic debut at the London 2012 Games, where she competed in the 3000m steeplechase. Although she did not advance to the final, her performance marked the beginning of an illustrious career in athletics.

She continued to hone her skills and improve her performance, showcasing her talent at various international competitions.

McColgan's second Olympic appearance came at the Rio 2016 Games, where she competed in the 5000m event.

Her dedication and rigorous training paid off as she secured a commendable 13th place in the final, establishing herself as a formidable competitor on the global stage.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics, held in 2021 due to the pandemic, saw McColgan competing in both the 5000m and 10,000m events.

Despite facing fierce competition, she demonstrated her resilience and finished 9th in the 10,000m final.

As Eilish McColgan gears up for her fourth consecutive Olympic appearance in Paris, she carries with her not only the hopes of her nation but also a wealth of experience and a legacy of determination.

Reflecting on this milestone, McColgan said:

"It is honestly a dream come true to announce I'll be competing at my fourth Olympic Games in Paris! The first Scottish athlete (in the history of GB track & field) to reach four! The last 16 months have been some of the toughest of my career but I have never stopped fighting. Olympic cycles are tough, but never giving up is something I'm most proud of."

With her eyes set on Paris, Eilish McColgan is ready to once again showcase her talent and determination on the world's biggest stage, solidifying her status as one of Team GB's and Scotland's greatest athletes.
