Dundee athletics superstar Eilish McColgan has been named an Athletics Ambassador for Special Olympics Great Britain in a new milestone in her highly successful career.

To celebrate her new role, McColgan met with Angus Leckonby, a Special Olympics GB athlete set to make history at the TCS London Marathon in April. Angus is attempting two Guinness World Records—being the quickest and youngest man to complete a marathon in the II1 category (for intellectual impairment athletes).

Eilish, who was Scotland's representative at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, is shortly to try the legendary 26.2-mile challenge on her own.

To do so is following in the footsteps of her mother, 1996 London Marathon winner Liz McColgan.

Eilish McColgan and Leckonby sat down at the London Marathon Events Community Track to discuss their training, experiences, and what Marathon Day will bring for them.

As she embarks on her ambassadorship, McColgan's work with Special Olympics GB will advance inclusion through sport and motivate all levels of athletes.
