Dundee has once more been named as Scotland's most underrated city, with a shining new feature in The Herald hailing it as a "champion of tourism."

Dundee was featured by travel journalist Robin McKelvie as a booming and value-for-money destination richly worth much greater exposure on the Scottish tourist trail.

Although Dundee's classic image of "jam, jute and journalism" remains an important part of its identity, McKelvie emphasises the dynamism of the city.

He embraced its breathtaking museums, rejuvenated waterfront, and iconic landmarks such as the V&A Dundee and RRS Discovery, calling them beacons of a city that is bursting with imagination and pride.

Unusually, he had mentioned the city being "arguably the best beach of any British city," describing the urban beach on the seafront, today a major tourist draw.

The feature also drew attention to Dundee's rich mix of cultural experience, from the life-affirming tours of HMS Unicorn to the frenetic exhibitions at the McManus and the interactive pleasures of Dundee Science Centre.

McKelvie was impressed by Dundee's can-do spirit, observing that the city had given up on the dream of depending on single attractions and adopting instead the slogan "One City, Many Discoveries" - a testament to the sheer breadth of experience on offer.

McKelvie's cover commemorates not just Dundee's charms but its people, capturinga "burning pride and can-do attitude"which has propelled the city's unprecedented revival.

From the cultural liveliness of Dundee Contemporary Arts to major events like Radio 1's Big Weekend in recent years and Doof in the Park coming this year, Dundee continues to claim itself as one of Scotland's most lively cultural hubs.

With the visitor tally still increasing, witnessing the capital of Scotland in all its heritage and contemporary dynamism, Dundee is merely delaying the “underrated" label and emerging proud as a true tourism champion.
