Scotland’s sunniest city is picking up four minutes of daylight daily as spring takes over from winter.
At the moment, Dundee receives approximately 10 hours of daylight, but this will continue to rise consistently over the next few weeks.
By the end of April, days in Dundee will be 15 hours long, a big milestone towards brighter and longer days.
This transition in nature is a welcome sign that spring is approaching, with more opportunities to venture out and a boost in energy for the majority of residents.
This growing daylight is due to the tilt and orbit of the Earth around the sun, and consequently, the northern hemisphere receives more sunlight as summer approaches.
The longer days not only lift moods but also favor the local wildlife, with flowers beginning to bloom and animals venturing out more often.
As a foretaste of longer days ahead, Dundonians can look forward to lighter evenings and an easing into the warmer days to follow.
