Dundee is getting a new book festival – here's everything you need to know

Dundee will host a brand-new book festival this summer when the Dundee Book Festival launches in June.


The three-day festival has been put together by Leisure & Culture Dundee and will unite books, libraries, music, and culture in a programme bursting with events across the city.


When is it on?


The Dundee Book Festival will take place from Thursday, June 12, until Saturday, June 14, 2025.


Where will it be?


Events will be held at various venues, including:


  • Marryat Hall

  • Central Library

  • Mills Observatory


Who is appearing?


A diverse and talented line-up of authors has been promised, with some star names already agreeing to appear, including:


  • Val McDermid – the renowned Fife-based crime writer.


  • Ambrose Parry – the pen name of husband-and-wife writing duo Chris Brookmyre and Dr Marisa Haetzman, who pen historical crime fiction.


When is the full programme revealed?


The entire schedule of events and authors will be announced next month, and tickets will be available in May.
