Dundee is about to witness THREE amazing celestial events over the next three months

Stargazers in Dundee are in for a treat as the night and day skies prepare to host a series of awe-inspiring celestial events over the next three months.

From a dazzling planet parade to TWO breathtaking eclipses, there's plenty to marvel at for both amateur and seasoned astronomers.

The planet parade kicks off in January

The excitement starts in January with the coming of a planet parade. Six planets will align in the night sky, Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus forming a rare and wondrous view.

Four of them will be naked-eye worlds, while the remaining two (Neptune and Uranus) will require a telescope to see-a real treat for astronomy enthusiasts.

The Moon joins the action in February

With February, the moon then joins the parade of the planets to continue the show and give a far superior display.

The rare alignment of the moon and the planets promises stunning sights that will light up Dundee's skies.

By February 28, you will be able to see it happen once again.

Solar and lunar eclipses in March

March is the highlight month of the season, though, with two big astronomical events to keep track of.

Early risers on March 14 can see a total lunar eclipse, where the Earth's shadow will completely cover the moon at its peak at 6:33am.

Later in the month, Dundee will also see a partial solar eclipse on March 29. The solar event, visible 44% in the city, reaches its peak at 11:08am. This is a rare opportunity to see both types of eclipses in one month.

These events represent a rare opportunity for Dundee citizens to become reacquainted with the magic of the universe.

Whether it's going outside and trying to see the parade of planets or setting an alarm to catch a glimpse of the eclipses, these celestial events will serve as a source of fascination and inspiration.

It hasn’t been confirmed as of yet whether Mills Observatory will be hosting viewings for these celestial events.

This will be the first time in 10 years where a solar and lunar eclipse will be visible from Dundee within the same month.

But do remember to mark your calendars and look up-you won't want to miss what's in store.
