Dundee has been named one of the best cities in the UK for a winter city break, securing seventh place in a list created by GO Outdoors.
This accolade highlights the city’s growing appeal during the festive season, with its blend of seasonal attractions and cultural events drawing visitors from far and wide.
While Scottish cities dominated the rankings—Inverness claimed the top spot, followed by Glasgow and Edinburgh—Dundee’s unique offerings set it apart.
Chief among these is the highly anticipated Dundee Christmas Village, promising a vibrant experience for residents and tourists alike.
The Christmas Village, located in the heart of the city, is set to transform the festive experience. Its centrepiece will be a 10m by 20m real ice rink, where visitors can skate under twinkling lights.
Surrounding the rink, a Christmas Market will showcase a diverse range of gifts and seasonal treats, provided by local traders and caterers, supporting Dundee’s small businesses.
Families can also enjoy a funfair featuring thrilling rides and a magical Santa Experience for children, while the entire village will be illuminated with dazzling lights, creating the perfect backdrop for festive celebrations.
Alongside this, the Dundee Hooley will officially kick off the winter celebrations in Dundee on 1 December at Meadowside.
Mills Observatory is also a top place to visit this winter in Dundee where visitors are invited to check out the stars and the wonders of the universe in the UK's oldest public observatory.
Adding to the city’s winter appeal, the grand opening of LiveHouse Dundee is another draw for visitors. The state-of-the-art venue promises to further energise Dundee’s cultural scene with a packed schedule of performances and events, complementing the festive cheer.
