Dundee has been fearured as one of the top cities in WWF’s We Love Cities campaign as it praises the city’s commitment to reach net-zero by 2045.
Dundee has been featured as a result of being the only Scottish finalist in the One Planet City Challenge, and only one of two in the wider UK, alongside Sunderland in England. 77 cities from 28 countries are finalists in this year’s challenge.
As stated by the WWF, the We Love Cities' is a public engagement campaign that allows people across the world to express support for sustainable urban development by voting for your favourite finalist from WWF's One Planet City Challenge and posting improvement suggestions for the city.
Dundee is a leading city when it comes to combating climate change as well as creating “wildlife corridors” and “maintaining sand dunes for natural flood defences”, as stated by WWF.
Dundee has also been at the forefront of the UK’s electric vehicle revolution, having one of the largest fleets of electric cars in the country.
Dundee is also the greenest city in Scotland, having more parkland per head than any other Scottish city.
