Dundee FC’s proposal to build a new training complex along Riverside Drive is on the brink of approval, with council planning chiefs recommending the bid’s green light.
If granted permission, the development will see the creation of a modern training facility at the site of the current amateur football pitches, offering a fresh landscape for the club’s operations and enhancing training opportunities for the city’s youth.
The proposed complex is set to deliver a state-of-the-art training environment for Dundee FC’s teams, with dedicated space for youth squads across Dundee, a boost for girls’ and women’s football, and upgrades to the facilities for the club’s first team.
Overseeing this transformative project will be the Dundee FC Community Trust, which will also ensure that the complex is open to the public, strengthening the club's connection with the wider community.
However, the bid has sparked concerns from local residents, with objections raised about potential increases in traffic, parking demands, wildlife disruption, light pollution, and flood risks.
Despite these concerns, the project has received 38 letters of support, with advocates underscoring the benefits for Dundee’s footballing future and community development.
Council leaders have also backed the project, suggesting the proposal’s potential impact is significant enough to merit approval.
The final decision will be made during a planning committee meeting scheduled for Monday, where councillors will weigh the local objections against the perceived benefits of Dundee FC’s proposed Riverside Drive training hub.
