Dundee and Abertay University have saw a big boost in their rankings in The Guardian University Rankings 2025, which have just been released, bringing great news for the city.
According to the rankings, Dundee has been named the BEST city in the UK for animation and games design. The University of Dundee secured the top spot, while Abertay University ranked 9th in this prestigious category.
Both universities have shown significant improvement in their overall placements compared to last year's rankings. In 2025, the University of Dundee climbed to 52nd place from 66th in 2024, while Abertay University rose to 79th place from 84th in 2024.
Dundee has not only excelled in animation and games design but also emerged as the best city in Scotland for dentistry.
Furthermore, the city boasts top ten rankings in forensic science, product design, and top 20 rankings in medicine, architecture, graphic design, business, and biomedical science.
With Dundee and Abertay universities receiving accolades across various disciplines, the city is abuzz with excitement.
This comes off the back of the University of Dundee being named Scottish University of the Year by Daily Mail University Rankings, and Abertay being nominated for twelve awards at the TIGA UK Education Awards.
