Hollywood Bowl Dundee: The city's newest bowling hotspot

Writer's picture: Andrew BatchelorAndrew Batchelor

Dundee’s newest bowling alley has so much on offer.

Hollywood Bowl opened at the city’s Eclipse Leisure Park a few weeks ago and last night saw the venue host their VIP opening night – and Dundee Culture was exclusively invited.

With a glam red carpet welcoming influencers through the door, visitors were welcomed into a compact but warm entrance.

Hollywood Bowl is the second bowling venue to open in Dundee following the arrival of Tenpin back earlier last year.

Having two bowling alleys open in Dundee in the space of a year, 14 years after the closure of the Megabowl, has brought much needed joy for Dundonians as many beforehand had to travel quite a bit to the nearest of its kind in Dunfermline.

Both bowling venues in Dundee are similar to one another with Hollywood Bowl being the smaller of the two with 20 bowling lanes, compared to Tenpin with 29.

But the size doesn’t matter here, it’s the quality.

And the quality is simply outstanding.

The service was absolutely amazing, and the staff were with you every step of the way. We met Maya, who was on hand to help us whenever we needed, she was brilliant.

One of the best moments of the night was whenever you got a strike, you’d win a sticker each time – and if you won a game, you got another sticker on top of that!

From arcade games to pool tables, there is so much to see and do either before or after your game(s) of bowling.

The accessibility of the venue is very good as well, there are ramps and also disabled access toilets.

When we arrived at lane 11, the space given to us was very good, and the lane staff were very kind in helping us get set up for our game.

The food service was very good as well, with staff coming over to you with a variety of food options, from burger platters to mozzarella sticks.

The Macmillan Cancer Support were also at the VIP opening, and it was great that Hollywood Bowl partnered with such an important and special cause. My party donated to the fundraiser that they hosted at the venue.

Overall, Hollywood Bowl is a very much welcome addition to Dundee – and being it quite a bit from Tenpin, there need no fear of competition with Tenpin.

Hollywood Bowl is simply a great place with good vibes – and one I hope many Dundonians will come and keep visiting for a long time to come.
