A new initiative is underway to develop an active travel route that will connect the Eden Project with Dundee city centre, providing residents and visitors with a green and accessible pathway through the city.
The project, which is part of a broader effort to enhance sustainable travel options in the area, will see the creation of a route designed for walking, cycling, and wheeling. The pathway aims to offer a safe and enjoyable way for people to travel between the popular Eden Project and Dundee’s eastern quarter, encouraging more active lifestyles and reducing reliance on vehicles.
To bring this vision to life, a consultant will be appointed to produce concept designs for the route.
The budget for this phase of the project is set at up to £120,000, with the cost being split across two years.
The initial contract is valued between £50,000 and £60,000 for the 2024/2025 period, with a similar amount allocated for the following year.
Funding for the project comes from resources earmarked for sustainable travel initiatives as part of a larger capital plan focused on promoting environmentally-friendly infrastructure within the city.
As planning progresses, the community can look forward to a new, eco-friendly route that will not only enhance connectivity within Dundee but also contribute to the city’s commitment to sustainable urban development.
