Abertay University has been named UK Cyber University of the Year

Abertay University has been awarded the prestigious title of UK Cyber University of the Year, cementing its reputation as a leader in cybersecurity education.

The accolade was announced at the National Cyber Awards, held in London, where Abertay's excellence in teaching, research, and innovation was recognised.

Judges highlighted the university's teaching quality, the groundbreaking work of its research hub, cyberQuarter, and the student-led Securi-Tay conference, organised by Abertay's Ethical Hacking Society. The event is a major annual gathering in the cybersecurity field, showcasing the efforts and achievements of the students involved.

Abertay has a long-standing reputation as a pioneer in the UK’s cyber industry, and it holds the prestigious National Cyber Security Centre's gold-level Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Education.

The National Cyber Awards celebrate excellence and innovation in the cybersecurity sector, recognising the contributions of professionals, businesses, and educators. Abertay's recognition at this event underscores the university's continued success in promoting cybersecurity education and fostering new talent within the industry.

The work of the Abertay cyberQuarter, a research and development hub funded through the Tay Cities Region Deal, also played a key role in securing the award, with the quality of academic staff and their contributions to the field receiving particular praise.

This recognition further strengthens Abertay University’s position as a leader in the cybersecurity sector, both in the UK and internationally.
