A new two-storey café developed from an old public toilet is planning on opening in Dundee

Plans have been submitted to transform the disused public toilets in Dundee into a vibrant two-storey cafe that aims to rejuvenate the area, the Courier has reported.

The proposal involves the renovation of the former toilets located on Seabraes, just off Perth Road, by the property company that acquired the site from Dundee City Council five years ago.

If approved, the project is scheduled to commence in the summer of 2025, breathing new life into the neglected building that has been concealed below street level for years.

The design proposal includes retaining the original decorative elements of the structure while adding a new section above the existing toilets. The cafe is planned to offer seating at both basement and ground levels, as well as an outdoor area.

Additional developments in the vicinity, such as a New York pizza-style takeaway, indicate a potential transformation of the local dining scene.
