Dundee DJ, Steven Bence, is taking a stand against mental health struggles by hosting a special event to raise awareness and support mental health groups.
The event, titled the Mental Health Awareness Rave, is set to take place at Fat Sam’s on Friday, November 8.
Steven Bence was motivated to organise this rave after the tragic loss of several friends who were battling mental health issues.
Steven spoke to the Courier and shared his heartfelt reasons for the event.
"I wanted to help raise money for Andy’s Man Club and Women’s Wellbeing Club after losing some friends this year."
The lineup for the event includes Steven’s dad Gary, DJ Pulse, and Josh ‘Hutchy’ Hutchison. The headline act for the night is Ultimate Buzz, a renowned dance group from Scotland.
Steven has garnered support from various local businesses in Dundee for the event.
He expressed his gratitude, saying, "I’ve been on the dance scene for a while so I’ve been able to get a hand from a number of local businesses."
The event promises a night of fun with activities like neon and glitter face painting. The first 100 attendees will also receive an LED baton. Tickets for the event are priced at £10 and can be purchased through Skiddle.
Steven’s initiative comes at a time when suicide prevention and mental health awareness are crucial. The event is expected to draw attention to these important issues and offer support to those in need.
Additionally, the success of this event highlights the community’s willingness to come together to address mental health challenges. It serves as a reminder of the importance of open conversations and support systems for those struggling with mental health.
