A former RBS building in Brook Street, Broughty Ferry, has been subjected to plans for a stylish cocktail bar submitted to Dundee City Council.
The bank closed in November 2023 and will now be developed into an establishment named 'Vault'.
According to The Courier, it is being driven by Graham Bradley, owner of Dundee's Craigie Bar, who took ownership of the building in May 2024.
He will be investing £300,000 into the redevelopment and hoping to bring a touch of London's famous speakeasy bars to Broughty Ferry.
Bradley said: "The location is ideal for a high-end cocktail bar, and this is a great way to repurpose the building. The bar will create jobs, and local tradesmen will carry out the work.”
Architects Wilson/Paul, who are managing the project, hope to save much of the building's original features. In a nod to the site's history, designers plan to include items like the existing safes and the vault door in the bar area.
An architects' spokesperson told The Daily News: "Our brief is to design a modern-day cocktail bar, albeit one that is aware of the building's heritage. These safes will remain on view and the vault door will be relocated as a feature in the VIP lounge."
Subject to approval, the scheme is programmed for completion in the spring, with a decision due by March 5.
