A new documentary about the ZX Spectrum is being premiered in Dundee at the DCA on 24 November.
The Scottish premiere of Rubber-Keyed Wonder is scheduled to take place at Dundee Contemporary Arts on 24 November, featuring a special Q&A session with the filmmakers and a guest appearance by Sandy White, the mastermind behind the beloved cult classic Ant Attack.
Rubber-Keyed Wonder features rare archive material and tells the story of the creation and development of the ZX Spectrum, as well as an amazing array of the games developed on the Spectrum including Jet Set Willy, Knight Lore, Chuckie Egg, Ant Attack, Saboteur and many, many more.
The development of the documentary began life as a Kickstarter project, with the team reaching their initial goal, raising over £100,000 from nearly 2,000 supporters from around the globe.
In the late 1970s, British inventor Sir Clive Sinclair had a vision of developing a cost-effective home computer that could have a global impact.
This vision came to fruition in 1982 when Sir Clive introduced the ZX Spectrum home computer, which became a massive success, selling millions of units globally and rapidly fulfilling his invention's potential, with the Scottish Games Network describing it as "one of the most important technological developments of its time".
The premiere of the documentary comes as Retro Games prepares to launch the Spectrum, a recreation of the Dundee-built computer later this month.
