Local filmmaker Dylan Drummond has used his own imagination to reinterpret Tam O' Shanter by Robert Burns, setting the story against a vibrant Dundee backdrop.

This 11-minute short film follows the couple, portrayed by Lynne Martin and Iain David Norris Martin, stroll around some of Dundee's most iconic landmarks, including the striking V&A Dundee, historic McManus Art Gallery & Museum, and atmospheric Howff burial ground.

The film, directed by Drummond with Brooke Brown as the film’s production assistant, presents a unique take on one of Scotland's greatest poetic works by reimagining Burns' tale within today's cityscape.

It weaves the rich cultural heritage and contemporary Dundee into one tapestry that allows Burns' storytelling to be considered with fresh eyes but in tandem with celebrating the distinctive character of the city.

This short film is not only a love letter to Burns' genius but also an active love letter to Dundee and its settings.

Dylan Drummond runs Son of the Sea Photography and Video.
