A 2009 documentary exploring Dundee’s jute industry, featuring Hollywood actor Brian Cox, is now available on BBC iPlayer.

Brian Cox's Jute Journey traces the rise and fall of the once-booming jute trade that connected Dundee with Kolkata, India.

The documentary takes viewers through the city’s industrial history, showing how Dundee became the centre of the jute trade, producing hessian from India’s “golden fibre.”

Cox follows the footsteps of Dundee jute workers who travelled to Kolkata, exploring the far-reaching impact of the industry that defined his family and many others.

The documentary serves as both a tribute to Dundee’s past and a reminder of the industry that once linked Scotland and India, now fading into history.

It is available to watch on BBC iPlayer until 23 November.
