A major cybersecurity conference hosted by FinTech is set to take place in Dundee next month, bringing together leading experts and stakeholders in financial services and technology.

The event, organised in partnership with Abertay cyberQuarter, promises to be a pivotal gathering for security leaders in the FinTech and financial services sectors.

With a focus on building collaboration and trust, the conference will address the growing challenges that digitisation and technological advancements pose to the financial services industry.

As businesses and individuals increasingly interact with financial services through digital channels, the industry faces heightened vulnerabilities, risks, and threats.

The rapid expansion of the financial ecosystem, the obsolescence of legacy banking systems, and increased interconnectivity with third-party vendors have all contributed to a more complex threat landscape.

Recent statistics highlight the urgency of the issue. In 2022 alone, over £1.2 billion was lost to fraud in the UK, and incidents of cyberattacks have surged.

The financial services sector reported a threefold increase in security breaches to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in 2023, and ransomware attacks have reached record levels, compromising the data of more than 5.3 million individuals last year.

The conference will explore a range of critical themes, including security, trust, people and culture, governance, risk, and compliance. Sessions will delve into specific areas such as cyber threats, fraud prevention, and Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Business (KYB) protocols.

"This is a must-attend event for anyone involved in securing financial services and FinTech. As custodians of people's money and data, we have both corporate and social responsibilities to ensure the highest levels of security and trust," said a spokesperson for FinTech-Tables.

The event is expected to attract a diverse group of participants, including regulators, financial institutions, technology firms, and data companies. Together, they will discuss strategies and innovative solutions for building stronger resilience in the face of evolving cyber threats.

Dundee has a growing reputation as a hub for cybersecurity innovation, and is anticipated to be one of the key events in the financial services calendar this year.
