Broughty Ferry Castle has received a funding boost for the next financial year, as revealed at this afternoon’s Dundee City Council budget meeting.

Leisure and Culture Dundee (LACD) has been awarded £50,000 to support the historic site’s operations, though this will come with some reductions in opening hours.

While the decision reflects ongoing financial constraints, The Broughty Ferry Traders’ Association (TheBFTA) has acknowledged the necessity of some concessions. In a statement, TheBFTA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the castle’s continued success alongside LACD and Historic Environment Scotland.

"Whilst no one wants any reduction in service in the current economic climate, we have accepted that some concessions needed to be made," a spokesperson for TheBFTA said. "We will continue to work hard contributing to its future success alongside LACD and Historic Environment Scotland. Expect to see some different ways of working and some new events this year."

Broughty Ferry Castle, a landmark on Dundee’s coastline, has long been a popular attraction, offering visitors a glimpse into the area's rich history. The funding will ensure that the site remains operational, albeit with adjusted access times.

Further details on the revised opening hours and upcoming events are expected to be announced in due course.
