Dundee isn’t just a city—it’s a way of life. Whether you’ve grown up here or lived here long enough to feel like an honorary Dundonian, there are certain things you just ken.

So, if you find yourself nodding along to this list, braw — yer definitely a true Dundonian!

  1. Ye'll ken you will never go hungry thanks to the wonderful Clark's bakery because they're open 24 hours - and that you've actually went there at 3am for a peh

  2. Ye'll ken never to cross the Balgay Bridge in the dead of night after the scary white lady that supposedly haunts there

  3. Ye'll ken that it is called the Dundee Law, the Law - or the La', not the Law Hill as "law" means "hill" in Scots, so you're basically saying "hill hill"

  4. Ye'll ken that many won't take kindly calling a circle a "roundabout"

  5. Ye'll ken the awful pain it feels when you fail to pass a green light at the Forfar Road junction

  6. Ye'll ken to avoid the City Square when you buy a steak bake from Greggs in the hope that it isn't stolen by hungry seagulls

  7. Ye'll sigh when someone excitedly asks if you knew Grand Theft Auto was created here when you already know that

  8. Older ones might know that it was time to go home when the lampies turned on at night when playing with your pals

  9. Ye'll understand that seeing Dundee on TV feels like a once-in-a-lifetime moment as it never really does

  10. Ye'll ken that no matter the proximity of Dens and Tannadice, Dundee and Dundee United fans will still have a tense rivalry, despite how impressive the location is

  11. Ye'll ken that the hallway in your house was "the lobie" - not a "lobby"

  12. Ye'll ken that multis come across as an exclusive word for high-rise tenements in Dundee

  13. Ye'll ken that the local newspaper is called "The Tully", not the "Evening Telegraph"

  14. Ye'll ken that Dundonian is a 'second language' in its own right - and not to let others tell you otherwise

  15. Ye'll ken that going to Broughty Ferry and visiting its iconic beach on hot day was like the Mediterranean holiday back in the day

  16. Ye'll ken that despite its faults, because there are, Dundee is indeed a pure teckle place
