Spring is in the air, and Dundee is bursting with exciting events this week! Whether you're a fan of fashion, fascinated by the microscopic, or eager to immerse yourself in live music, theatre, and sports, there's something for everyone.


From the Icons of Style exhibition at V&A Dundee to the high-energy Dundee Varsity and the atmospheric After Dark Mains Castle Takeover, this week offers a mix of culture, history, and entertainment. Let’s dive into the top 10 things to see and do in Dundee this week!

A free fashion display celebrates this legacy, showcasing iconic designs from six leading Scottish designers from 1960 to today. The event, tied to BBC Scotland's "Icons of Style" featuring Kirsty Wark, includes clips from the series for an immersive experience.

This exhibition showcases the University of Dundee’s museum collections focused on the small and microscopic, featuring items like molecular models, microscope slides, embryos, and babies. It explores how these minuscule elements have been collected, studied, and interpreted over time.

Josh, a genealogy volunteer, will be available at the Central Library's Local History section on Monday from 10am to 12pm to assist individuals interested in family history. He aims to guide both beginners and those who have encountered challenges in their research by explaining the various websites and resources available, as well as offering advice on how to effectively utilise them.

Dundee Schools’ Bands and Orchestras and Dundee Schools’ Music Theatre are thrilled to return to the Caird Hall, celebrating another year of musical achievements. Pupils from Dundee primary and secondary schools will unite to perform in ensembles such as the Dundee Jazz Band, Junior Strings, Rock Band, Ceol Dun Deagh, and the Senior Wind Ensemble. These talented young performers will showcase a diverse range of music from Dr Seuss to Dexy’s Midnight Runners, highlighting the impressive skills of Dundee’s youth in Arts and Culture over two unmissable evenings.

📍 Camperdown Wildlife Centre


Camperdown Wildlife Centre is hosting two special events to celebrate wildlife conservation, featuring both eagles and brown bears. On March 23rd at 12 noon, the centre will celebrate World Eagle Day with a talk and feeding session for Clova, a Golden Eagle, and Ernie, a White-tailed Eagle, both of whom serve as ambassadors for their species after being injured and unable to return to the wild. Additionally, visitors can learn about the European brown bears, including Brum, Brumma, and Maja, who represent a species once native to Scotland but now primarily found in small populations across Spain, Italy, and Romania. The events aim to raise awareness about the conservation challenges these magnificent animals face and the importance of protecting their habitats.

The annual Varsity sporting tournament is set to return to Dundee this coming week, bringing together athletes from Abertay University and the University of Dundee for a day of spirited competition across sixteen sports. Scheduled for Wednesday, March 19, 2025, this eagerly awaited event marks its 16th year as Dundee's largest amateur sporting occasion. Over 600 students will compete in various sports, including football, rugby, golf, and archery, across multiple venues in the city. Spectators can enjoy free entry, cheerleading, dance performances, food trucks, a bar, and a DJ at the Riverside Playing Fields, culminating in an awards ceremony.

Embark on a journey with Rab McVie through a world of bloodshed and war, a tale of hope amidst darkness. "Revelations of Rab McVie" combines live painting, music, spoken word, and theatre, debuting to sold-out crowds at the Traverse Theatre and earning rave reviews. This unique experience features alt-rock music by The Filthy Tongues, vibrant paintings by Maria Rud, and a captivating performance by Tam Dean Burn. Created by Martin Metcalfe and Maria Rud, with director Maria Pattinson, it's a wildly immersive and mesmerizing stage experience.

Daniel Martinez returns with “ART OF ANDALUCIA”, a new flamenco show that highlights the art of dance, following his previous successful productions. This immersive experience brings the passion of Andalucia to life, featuring renowned dancer Angel Reyes, known for his work with Manuel Linan and Jesus Carmona, and Gabriela Pouso, the principal dancer of Martinez's company. Their performances are complemented by original compositions from Martinez, enriched by the vocals of Inma Montero and Danielo Olivera, and percussionist Julian Ticotico. “ART OF ANDALUCIA” celebrates flamenco through stunning choreography and powerful performances, offering an unforgettable cultural experience.

Opera Highlights returns in 2025, visiting 24 venues across Scotland with a unique piano-accompanied production. This season, director Rebecca Meltzer and designer Kenneth MacLeod present a lively show celebrating Scotland’s diverse landscapes. Curated by Fiona MacSherry, the operatic vignettes unfold at various train stations, capturing moments of meeting, parting, and new beginnings. Featuring singers Robert Forrest and Emerging Artists Ross Cumming, Chloe Harris, and Kira Kaplan, the show brings to life operatic pieces by Beethoven, Bizet, Handel, Donizetti, Tchaikovsky, and others, under the musical direction of Joseph Beesley.
